Employment in Cyprus

Cyprus' labor regulations are governed by various laws that outline employee protections and workers' rights applicable to the local workforce. Employees in Cyprus are safeguarded against discrimination based on age, religion, sexual orientation, gender expression, and race.

Common topics that may arise during the hiring process include the minimum wage, overtime pay, and guaranteed paid leave. We can assist you in offering a comprehensive, competitive, and compliant benefits package for your employees in Cyprus.

Minimum Wage

As of January 1, 2024, the minimum monthly wage in Cyprus has increased to €1,000 gross for full-time employees who have completed six months of continuous employment with the same employer. For employees who have not yet completed this six-month period, the minimum wage is set at €900.

This wage standard does not apply to domestic workers, agricultural and livestock workers, shipping workers, or those covered by the minimum wage provisions in the hotel industry.

Payroll Cycle

For our clients, employee payments are made in equal monthly installments, payable in arrears, on or before the last working day of each calendar month.

Onboarding Timeline

We can expedite the onboarding process for new employees in Cyprus. The minimum time required to onboard an employee is 7 working days, starting once all necessary information is provided. Our team ensures timely onboarding and payroll setup, all while maintaining compliance with local employment regulations. The timeline also depends on registration with local authorities.

For non-nationals, the Right to Work assessment, if required, will extend the onboarding process by an additional three days. Further delays may occur if follow-up on the right to work assessment is needed.

Public Holidays

Cyprus observes 14 public holidays each year.
